Harjot Arora is this year’s Manager for the 4th annual conference ‘A Global Perspective: From Science to Business’ to be held on March 17th, 2007. He is the also the President of SBSA (2006 - 07). He is extremely happy to have two strong leaders as conference co-chairs and thrilled to have a team of such a high calibre. He is confident that it will be a remarkable experience for everyone involved in the planning and execution of the conference. He promises that it will be an excellent chance to further develop your organizational, communication, leadership and interpersonal skills. Punit Shanghavi is currently on his second coop term and is the Vice President and conference co-chair of SBSA. He feels that his experience in other organizations will help him to achieve not only some of his personal goals, but to also help SBSA reach all of the objectives. His main goal in the organization is to ensure the smooth running of all the events and initiatives that SBSA takes part in. He is currently focused on the annual SBSA conference that will be held in March at the University of Waterloo. Punit is eagerly looking forward to the SBSA conference in March. Punit, along with the entire SBSA conference team, have confidence that this conference will take SBSA to a new level.

Rebecca Zhou is currently the Chief Operating Officer and the conference co-chair for the 2007 SBSA conference. She is in her senior and last year of the Science and Business program. Rebecca has contributed to the previous two SBSA conferences as a Marketing Team member then as the Co-Marketing Director. She believes her past experiences with organizing large events like this will help her lead this year’s exceptional team of organizers to another level of success for SBSA. Rebecca looks forward to an exciting time of planning and coordinating the details for the upcoming conference and will continue to work hard towards its goal. Carol Lobo is the Business Development Manager for the conference and is currently on her second work term. She has seen the radical changes SBSA has made over the past few months and believes that the combined efforts of the conference team can take SBSA to new heights. Through Carol's involvement in the SBSA Conference, she hopes to enrich her leadership and organizational skills.

Han Shu is a second year student working towards his Chartered Accounting Designation while specializing in Biotechnology. Last year was Han's first year getting involved with the conference as a conference associate. This year he is taking on the executive role as the Sponsorship and Public Relation coordinator and he hopes to bring more value-adding sponsors to the conference and establish a long-term relationship with those returning ones. Han follows his "I like what I do and I do what I like" philosophy and have had experiences with FIRST Robotics Competition, representing Canada in the International competition located in Florida, U.S. He has competed in the International Dragon Boat Race Festival held in Toronto and took first place. Han is very excited to be part of the Science and Business Conference and hopes to make it the best conference to date yet.

Matthew Colphon is a first year student in the non-specialized branch of the Science and Business program. Having several years of experience, organizing events as part of his high school student council and with the Markham Village BIA during the summer in his hometown of Markham, Matt has joined to take on the challenge of organizing a university level event. As Programming Coordinator, he hopes to learn the ropes of a university club and organizing an industry event.

Juliana Yuen is a first year student in Biotechnology and Chartered Accountancy, and this year, co-chairs the Program Coordination team for the 2007 SBSA Conference. She joined the team in order to develop her event planning and leadership skills, as well as be part of a well-known, successful and beneficial event. She has previously organised events for many charities, such as Free the Children, Heart & Stroke Campaign, and the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

Fatema Zehra Abdallah is an international student from Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. She started her first year at Waterloo in Fall ‘06, and enrolled in the Science and Business/Biochemistry program. For the conference of 2007, Fatema has joined the Marketing team because she feels this will be an excellent opportunity to put her skills to use, given her background in raising awareness and organizing fund-raising events for charities in Tanzania.

Sabrina Khamisa is a fourth year student in Biotechnology/Economics. She took the opportunity to get involved with SBSA to further her event coordination, organizational and time management skills. This year has seen many changes in all three areas of Science and Business from when Sabrina was in her first year. She's excited to see the direction these disciplines are taking and decided to be a part of the progress. SBSA promises to bring only the best to its student members and Sabrina is dedicated to be a part of that success.

Joyce Lin is into the first year of her wonderful experience in the Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy program. She will be the Hospitality Coordinator for A Global Perspective: From Science to Business in the coming year, and is thankful for the opportunity to take part in putting together this event. She is looking forward to the many positive experiences, and hopes to strengthen leadership and communication skills during the process. She brings on board her enthusiasm, energy, and past experience in helping with the coordination of fund-raising events for various non-profit organizations.

Joining the SBSA Conference team is a great way to learn about different job opportunities in the science and business field and to establish great career goals. It also gives a chance to enhance our leadership skills, as well as provide an opportunity to work together as a team and to help other students during the conference. Currently, Seena is involved with the Student Life Office of the university planning and marketing various events for first year students. Her aim is to pursue a career in medical biotechnology.

Frances Cheung is a fourth year student in the Science and Business/Non-Specialized program, and is currently pursuing a minor in Psychology. She is thrilled to once again take part in coordinating the upcoming Science and Business Conference of 2007. Frances brings with her much planning and coordinating skills, demonstrated through her present role as VP Charities Coordinator for Asian Focus and as a Student Marketing Team volunteer for Career Services.

Rambien Enerio is a fourth year student in the Biomedical Sciences program. He would like to take the opportunity, as an SBSA associate, to enhance his organizational, as well as his teamwork and social skills. He has volunteered at the Grand River Hospital at the Emergency department, the front desk and the KW Cancer Center. Rambien directed patients to several departments within the hospital as well as deliver patients' files to the correct locations. Although this is his first time with SBSA, he is eager to contribute to the team and is hoping for an outstanding conference.

Sona Goswami is a third year Science and Business student. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to take part in the marketing of the 4th annual conference. Sona believes that one of the strengths in the Science and Business program is its students and by representing a program that is not comparable to any other in Canada, you can’t really go wrong; this program is nothing but right. Sona joined this conference team to demonstrate her teamwork skills and to enhance her business acumen. With her years of experience in the retail industry; having worked with a variety of products and sales methods, Sona is elated to help elevate this conference to a higher level in the year 2007.

Henry is a third-year Computer Science student who is considering the Software Engineering Option as well as a Minor in Philosophy. He joins the UWSBSA team for the 2007 Conference: A Global Perspective From Science To Business as Technical Manager providing web site updates and technical advice for other members of the team. Henry is currently completing his 3B Term on campus at the University of Waterloo. His previous work experiences include Test Engineering Specialist at PlateSpin Ltd., and IT Technician positions at Havergal College, Hitachi Canada Ltd., and GE Capital Solutions Canada.

Yvonne was very excited to be involved in the SBSA Conference last year and is very eager to contribute her past experience and creative ideas to this year’s team as well. Yvonne brings to the team, her dedicated perseverance as well as her solid background in teamwork through ongoing student government involvement. She has been the Social Director for the Science Society, the Marketing Coordinator for SBSA and is this year’s Second Year Representative for SBSA. Her persistence to help make the Science and Business program thrive continues each and every year.

Pui Chung is a fourth-year Biotechnology/Economics student. He is joining us as a member of the 2007 University of Waterloo Science and Business Student Association Conference Team in the Marketing division. He hopes to use his conference organization skills gained from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade co-op placement to further advance the events that UWSBSA holds in 2007. Pui Chung is currently involved in volunteer work for the Canadian Cancer Society as a New Development Co-Chair, the Grand River Hospital as an Emergency Department Assistant, and a local medical clinic as a receptionist. His past employment includes: MDS Sciex as an Application Chemist, Maple Leaf Foods as a Food Technologist, and Bayer HealthCare as a Database Designer for the Marketing Group in Hong Kong.

Currently on her second coop term, Katrina Leung has been actively involved with SBSA for the past year. Inherent to the science and business program is the undeniably complex legal nature of its relevant industries. As the Associate for the Legal component of the conference, Katrina is eager and excited to bring the conference's legal element to new and exciting heights. She hopes this conference will be the most informative and stimulating event yet and will work tenaciously with her peers to deliver on this. In the near future, Katrina aspires to practice law in the ever demanding industries of technology and life sciences.

As a first year biotechnology/economics student, Sian aspires to own a biotechnology company by age thirty, and hopes to achieve that goal by joining the conference team. He has been assigned to the marketing team, which is a great opportunity to explore the market of today's society. Sian wants to learn to sell himself and his product better, and to strengthen all the necessary management skills that he has started to work on ever since high school. He has worked at the Dale Carnegie Group as a graduate assistant and served as his high school's president of Debating Club, Philosophy Club, Go Club, Library Club and as the executive of Music Council, and Kids Help Phone. Sian's peers have also voted him as a Valedictorian, which will contribute to his role on the marketing team.

She is proud to be a part of the program coordination team because she enjoys approaching potential speakers and getting them invovled. She would like to meet new friends and gain experience in conference planning while working as part of the team. Amy is a shopaholic and she worked as a sales associate at Aritzia. She hopes to one day become a business woman and put her science/business background in use.
