The Science and Business Students’Association (SBSA) is an organization representing students in Science and Business, Biotech CA, and Biotech Econ programs at the University of Waterloo. SBSA is a student-run association that holds one of the largest conferences on campus. For the past three years, SBSA has successfully organized three annual conferences: "Intellectual Property: From Science to Business," "Keys for Success: From Science to Business," and "The Driving Force: From Science to Business."
Our theme for this year's conference is Globalization. With the movement into a global economy, markets have become more competitive, regulated, and democratic and this has given birth to new ways of conducting business. In this global age, today's successful models cannot be a guarantee for tomorrow's triumph. In order to confront the challenges of the dynamism now inbuilt in the global economic, cultural and social factors a new breed of transnational managers needs to be prepared.
These are the very basic reasons that the theme of our conference is globalization. The fourth annual conference "A Global Perspective: From Science to Business" aims to provide awareness of upcoming issues that business leaders will have to face in tomorrow's navigational global economy. In addition, this conference will provide tools for working in emerging competitive markets and becoming tomorrow's top business leaders and managers. The conference will discuss strategy, human dynamics, academic opportunities, managing and expanding operations globally, and will feature case studies on entrepreneurship and business law.
